World Changers is coming to Salt Lake City in 2008!

Now is the time to get your church, Sunday school class or youth group involved in this exciting "world-changing" ministry.

World Changer Myth Busters!

1.     World Changers is a youth event.  Certainly youth are a major participant but the overall population of World Changers events is made up of approximately 40% adult volunteers.  For every 5 youth that are participating there is one gender specific adult volunteer as supervisor.  The Salt Lake project has a total of 310 participants so of that total at least 60 volunteers will be accompanying the youth and working on the projects.  In addition to these volunteers we will have crew chiefs, construction supervisors, prayer ministers, church host, worship leaders, NAMB summer staff, security, janitorial and facility maintenance, agency representatives, food delivery teams, and food preparation teams. The Salt Lake Baptist Association World Changers project will consist of between 400 and 450 total volunteers serving Christ together.  I personally know of no other project where adults and youth work so closely together and youth are exampled as well as mentored on sharing the Gospel for Christ.   What a blessing to our youth but in most cases the adults are blessed far more by the youth and receive a fresh awareness of serving and sharing Jesus.

2.     World Changers is a construction project.  Rebuilding and remodeling activities are simply the tools used to share the Good News and love of Jesus
Christ.  See Isaiah 58:12 and Matthew 25: 31-45 for reference.  Last year, 2007, World Changers projects recorded the gospel was shared over 9,000 times resulting in 961 known professions of faith.  This is not inclusive of the youth and adult volunteers that may have made some spiritual decision for Christ. World Changers is a mission project and uses construction as a means to reach a lost world.

3.     World Changers is a single church activity.  There are very few churches in the nation that could totally sponsor a World Changer project.  Especially in Salt Lake we will need participation from all for host churches and volunteers to make this a successful event. Please take a look at our web site on how you can be involved and there is opportunity for every church to have some level of participation.

4.     It won't work in Salt Lake because we have unique challenges.  It does work and has worked here. In fact we have 60 % of the attending churches to the 2007 project returning with teams registering over 155 return participants.  We will have teams attending from states as far away as New York, Washington, and Oklahoma.  In fact South Salt Lake City is so excited about us returning they sent three representatives to the coordinators conference in Greenville S.C. to make sure they are prepared to properly assist in these projects.

We Need Your Help!

We are privileged to host the World Changer project once again here in Salt Lake area.  Not only will the residents whose homes will be rehabilitated and the young people who are coming be blessed but we, also, will be blessed sharing in this work.  This is an opportunity for your church to be directly involved in missions right here in Salt Lake Valley.  There are several different ways that you do this:

1.     We will need churches to host one or more crews who are working by providing meals for them on Sunday and taking them lunches during the following week at the job site.

2.     We may need volunteers to be runners and/or supervisors.

3.     If you are good with tools and handiwork you may be a candidate to serve as a crew chief.

4.     You may recommend a house that needs to be rehabilitated.  This has to be approved through the Agency Representative.

5.     You can participate in a prayer ministry that will comment to collectively pray for the participants coming, the project homeowners, prayer walk the neighbor hood in advance, and follow up with homeowners once the project is completed.

Please be praying about how your church can be involved.  Dan Walker or Mark Madison will be in touch with you shortly.  In the mean time you can register your church or an individual and learn more about World Changers or join our prayer ministry team. May God bless you richly!
