KINGDOM CHURCH STRATEGY
- Partner Church Overview -

The Kingdom Church Strategy is a blueprint by which the Salt Lake Baptist Association seeks to encourage, equip and resource existing local churches and pastors to expand their church’s ministry and outreach. We fully expect churches who partner with KCS will initially experience growth in attendance and professions of faith among their own congregation, see the deployment of church laity for new ministries and projects which in turn will become the impetus for establishing new evangelistic outreaches and churches starts.

Key Principles

In Matthew 16, Jesus told Peter that "upon this rock I will build my church" and then he went on to say, "... and I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Every church that participates in the Kingdom Church Strategy must adhere to these four key principles:

K - Kingdom Principle

The most important aspect of this strategy is realizing that we are building the Kingdom of God, not our local church's kingdom. Nor are we building a Southern Baptist kingdom, an association kingdom, or a particular pastor's kingdom! Therefore, we may make decisions that could hurt our local church, association or ministry, but willing do these things if it will advance the Kingdom of God. If this principle is not believed and practiced, then nothing else will matter...

E - Empowering Believers

We believe that God can and does work through his disciples. Every believer who has been born again by the Holy Spirit of God is (or should be) a co-laborer with God. As Paul said, "Freely you have received, freely give", we seek to help every believer utilize his/her gifts God has given to them. While seminary training and degrees can be helpful, they are not required to be "on mission" with God. Every Kingdom Church should endeavor to motivate, equip and send out its members into the community to further God's Kingdom.

Y - Yield to the Spirit

It is a primary principle that we seek the Lord's direction through prayer, His Word and the body of Christ. Proverbs says, "A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps." Kingdom Churches try not to attempt any thing that isn't first sought after through prayer. Jeremiah 33:3 says, "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."

S - Seek Gospel Opportunities

Once a Kingdom Church has committed to advancing the Kingdom of God over its own interests, empowered and mobilized its laity, and sought the Lord through prayer, then it should constantly be aware of possible "Gospel Opportunities" for sharing the good news of Christ. These "GO's" can be kids clubs, neighborhood Bible studies, teen activities, prison or trucker ministries, community projects, women ministries or any other avenue that the Lord opens up for a church to minister.
